i was working on a computer to give to a friend, had it just about working
perfectly, found correct drivers, spent a lot of time on it, then..........a
friend who was "helping me" (hehe) accidently DELETED the user i had set up
(win2000) and now i can't log on to the machine--when it boots up, it goes
to password dialogue box (i named the computer "me" and it has that for the
usewrname, but i don't think i ever set a password for "me" during win2000
installation?--or if i did, i can't remember it--DUH!) and the user who's
password i DO know is now deleted and i can't get in--i can't re-install
windows, won't start the cd automatically, anything i do, it just goes back
to the password dialogue box--tried taking out the battery overnight to
delete the file where password is (read somewhere that might do it), no
help--as u can tell, i really don't know what i'm doing, but i usually
manage to get things running somehow (hehe)--any advice on how to get into
this damn machine?, bypass the password dialogue box?, re-install windows?,
something i can do?--thanks so much for any suggestions
-Robin
