password problem

Working on two comps connected through a router in a small
business setting. One comp running win98 the other
win2k. Set up file and print sharing for both computers
and they can see each other in the workgroup I have
assigned them.

Win2k comp can access shared c: drive of win98 comp, but
when win98 tries to access shared c: drive on win2k comp
it prompts you for a password. I did not install the
win2k and do not have much knowledge working with it.

I have tried setting permissions on win2k comp but the
win98 comp does not show up for selection when I access
the proper workgroup.

Wondering how to remove or find the password to allow the
win98 comp to access the win2k comp. Hope this is enough
information, many thanks in advance and look forward to
any replies.

Try using the username "administrator" with no password
W2K is all about security. you might have to set up a
user on the W2K machine, I have never set up a peer-to-
peer network with W2K...it has always been with servers
and user accounts. Try that and then give the computer
the correct rights for the files.
Also make sure that when you shared the folders that the
check box for "require password" is unchecked.

Set up a local user w/admin rights on the 2000 machine w/
the same username and password the user logs in with on
the 98 machine. I know it'a a pain but its the easiest
way i have found.
