Hi All,

I can't open a powerpoint file which is password protected.
The file is set with modify password only, which means user can open in
read-only mode.
But the problem is when I open the ppt file, the read-only button is
missing. No way I can find it. It only shown up the ok and cancel button with
password dialogu box.

I can see the read-only button when the PC is not join the domain.
I've done investigation and found that PC joining the domain with roaming
profile setting will not see the read-only button, while PC joining the
domain using local profile setting, the read-only button will appear.

Can anyone help me to solve this problem.
Thansk in advance.

You probably need to talk to whoever looks after the network.

Are you able to rename the file? If so change the extention from .ppt to
..pps this may get round the read only message if you open by double clicking
the icon

If you cant see the extension and have the needed priviledges windows
explorer> tools> folder options > view

untick hide known file extentions

I have changed to .pps and problem still appear the same.

No read only button appear on the password dialogue box.

Any ideal.
