i want to change my password policy from 7 characters to 8
plus require a number. when i make this change will it
automaticly lock out everyones account or will it just
take effect the next time they are required to change
their passwords?

It means that any newly created password - either through a change, reset,
or new user account will have to meet those requirements. Current passwords
will still work fine. -- Steve

Hi were can you set the parameter that the password would need a number in
it. I see were you can set the Length, History and Age as well as
Complexity. But I do not know were you can define the complexity. I thought
that if you check it you would need to have a number, a CAP and a bunch of
other limitations.
