We have a number of WinXP systems on our domain and all but one dont
notify the user when their domain password is about to expire/has
expired. The systems all log on to a NT 4 domain. is there a sure fire
way to make sure this works?? I've looked in the local security
settings and the flag *is* set but I'm not getting a notification!

TIA

Hi there!

I have read about problems involving XP machines connection to NT4 domains.
Make sure you've got Service Pack 6a loaded. That might help.

Kind regards,

we can connect no problem!! it's just that the password expires
without XP telling anyone. it's not much problem for me to deduce that
the passward has expired but a few members of staff round here arent
that clever!! :o)

Just to be sure - when you say 'flag' is set at Local Security
policies, look at the Local Policies - Security Options and at

Interactive logon - Prompt user to change password . . . etc

is this set to a suitable number of days? Default is 14; setting zero
will mean they do not get prompted at all
