Amanda

Does anyone know how to open a file which has been
password protected, if the password isn't working.

I have the password but it isn't opening the file, so I
need to get round it. Either that or the password given is
the wrong one.

Grateful to those who can help, as it is a vital file.

Amanda,

This link http://tinyurl.com/jsjc will take you to a recent post on the
McCormick,/.McGimpsey/Harker password cracker.

Hi Amanda!

It seems that you're looking for a password to open the file.

You'll find the following a useful source of links to password
recovery:

http://j-walk.com/ss/excel/links/pword.htm

But you also say that you have the password and I think it unlikely
that the password has been changed by accident as a confirmation is
required to impose one.

Try:

All upper case
All lower case
First letter upper case remainder lower case
Any other password that you often use
If you didn't create (and protect the file), contact the person who
did.

Good luck!

Hi Amanda,

Yes, it is possible to find the password required to open an Excel file.

There are many good tools available for this purpose:

http://tinyurl.com/qfsp

There are also professional password recovery services available:

http://www.intertek.org.uk/

N.B. Please do not open any file unless you are fully authorised
to do so.

Regards,

C.B.
