I have dual boot OS to Vista Ultimate and XP Pro. Vista has password on
bootup; XP does not. Vista usage is 98% of the time. Vista also has Windows
Home Server installed on an HP EX475. Driver or software malfunction in Vista
so booted in safe mode to system restore to earlier date. Rebooted and Vista
will no longer accept password. I can still load XP OS which is where I am
typing this message from. The Vista and XP are OEM versions from the computer
manufacturer Xi Computer.com.
Everything is backed up to the Home Server. The Home Server software is not
installed in XP.
1. Is there a way to remove the password from Vista or regain access?
2. Did I unknowingly commit a sin?
3. Is this preventable in the future?
