Where can I find the files that contain the passwords that allow access to
websites without retyping each time?? We are migrating to a new computer and
I have 4 years worth of "passwords" and do not have all of them and do not
wish to re-enter, if possible. Thank you for any comments.

I am running windows xp sp1 - I could not find the file you specified on my
computer.

Could you be more specific as to where this file might be or is there
another file for this version of windows??
Thank you.

You need to download the utility from http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/pspv.html and install it. Some anti-virus software programs consider it malware, as it does expose normally protected passwords. The utility will allow you to export/import many of the stored passwords on your system.

You could also try the built in File and Settings Transfer Wizard. I don't
save passwords myself but I believe it should also migrate them. The link
below explains more on how to use it and you can save to a DVD/CDROM if you
do not have a network setup between computers to do the transfer. --- Steve

Thank you. The text suggested offers a work-around that might work however
states that passwords are not migrated. Knowing the file name, where it is
and where to put it on the new computer would be the answer.

I checked the article and it was a bit ambiguous on what passwords are not
included. It says passwords needed to access programs so it still may worth
a try. Another possibility is to download the program in the link below so
that you can see all your logon names and passwords and print out the

Steven,

Generally, passwords are not migrated. This is a security "feature". If someone were to get hold of the FAST backup, they'd have your information.

Hi Doug.

Thanks for clarifying that. --- Steve
