Looking for a good Password Manager. I had been using Roboform but was
wondering if there might be a better one out there.
Thanks

Never tried RoboForm because of the limitation on number of passwords you
can input with the free version. So, aside from the fact that these two have no
such limitation, I can't say what else may or may not be better or worse about
them.

Oubliette
I like this one and currently use it. I especially like the encryption and
other security options it offers. I don't use the autofill feature so I
don't know if it works or not:

PINs
I tried this one, and it looks good in theory, but it crashed on me quite a
bit while opening the program...maybe 60% of the time. It gives you the
option to install with registry entries or without; I chose
without...perhaps that caused some instability. I didn't try it the other
way. I think I've seen others praise it before, so it's evidently working
for some / most people.

Both offer import/export. Oubliette is very flexible in this regard. This
becomes an important feature when you want / need to change
password managers. I learned my lesson after having used a
shareware manager with no ability to transfer the passwords from it
to another manager. I had to retype / cut-and-paste everything. If you
have only a few passwords, no big deal.

I'm a bit low tech in protecting my passwords.

I just use a floppy disk with text files containing the information. I know
that my machine is physically secure, so I'm not worried about anyone running
off with the floppy disk. Though I've been thinking about using an encrypted,
self extracting archive just for an extra layer of protection.

With I.E 6, I use one of the older versions of Roboform, 4.6.8.0, which is
not cripple-ware as the newer versions are, and makes life a lot easier when
surfing through password-protected sites. But, I suppose that with Mozilla,
you could rely on the built-in password manager to achieve the same result
without an external program.

As a backup, I also use Passkeeper 1.2 and I like it very much. It is
<100Kb but works very well as a safe for passwords and other sensitive data.
It is handy to keep a shortcut right on your desktop or favorites menu.

Thanks everybody for all the very excellent subjections for a Password
Manager. I will look them all over before making a choice.
Thanks again,
david

Dont trust "closed" applications, so I made my own:
http://www.svapna.com/passwordmanager.php
It's based on ms access, includes encryption and I can give you the
source code (mdb).

Download a demo version

The demo version is a limited mde file in which data gets deleted on
every application startup. If you like Password Manager please donate

The only secure machine is the one which is not connected to a network
(Internet). If you post messages to newsgroups and browse internet
from this machine, then your machine is not 100% secure.
