in fp2003 open go to page tool go down to server this is gray out
can someone help what i have read about setting up password for website
i need to open server to add user

It would be best to check with your host about this.

It may not be something the host would allow you to do.

You have to open the site on the server not on your hard drive for this not
to be greyed out ... plus fpse must be in place on the server too... not all
hosts will allow you to everything that can be done with this feature .. my
host (when they had fpse) would not let me make pw protected sites via fp ..
i had to do it via the control panel which was a pita.

My server has Parrells installed and I have to go through it to be able to
use pw protection with the server extenstions installed.

Configuration > Protect Directories
A warning comes up with a link to the Frontpage Extension Permission
Management interface
Click on it and the box for username and password pops up
Fill it in - mine is different than the account signon
You then have acces to the interface to do what you need to do
Mine has a very good help file with it.
