Password for opening Windows Mail

Can I protect my Mail from others by giving a password at the starting of
Windows mail same as Outlook Express. I mean if any one opens Windows mail
they need to give a password to check the mails.

Thanks

You can have it ask you for the mail server password each time, but that will
not protect your already downloaded emails. Even if you could password
protect the opening of Windows Mail (you can't), that would not protect
your non-mail documents and pictures. Furthermore, it is common knowledge
that emails are stored in plain text, so anyone with access to your Windows
session could read your emails with Notepad. For that reason, Microsoft did
away with the pseudo-protection that was in Outlook Express. For real
protection, make sure your Windows user login is password protected, then
log out when you are done using the computer.

Hello, I have just started having windows ask me for a username and password
to get into my emails. I can't ever remember having to do this before. So I
am unable to recieve any emails now, very frusterating. Does anyone have any
ideas on what I can do?
Thanks

That type of problem is often due to account corruption caused by
a non-compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?

One thing you might try as a possible quick fix is to delete that corrupted
account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate that mail account.
If that doesn't fix it, more drastic measures will have to be taken.

As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be replaced.

If turning off the email scanning function does not resolve your problem,
consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to
suffering bad effects from overly aggressive antivirus programs.

Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons
explained here:
