Password for computer administrator account invalid

I put in a password that is too long for the box and it will not accept it. I am the only computer administrator on this computer, and I am not able to get into my account. I am using a limited account for now. How do I get into my account?

What do you mean by "too long"?
Ignore the dots in the space, simply type the password as the rest is
scrolling off the screen.

Reboot into safe mode, log on with ADMINISTRATOR account then start up
"User Accounts" in Control Panel and change the password for your user
name.
