Hi, I'm having trouble accessing a XP machine over the network. The other
machine is also XP. Both have SP1 installed.

When I try to access the machine using \\computer1 or thru My Network Places
I get a dialog box:

Connect to \\computer1
User name: \\computer1\Guest
Password:

I can't change the user name and I have disabled the guest account.

What to do?

Thanks

You should have identical user accounts on each machine (same user name and
password). Log in with that account on one machine. On the other machine
(the one that is sharing) grant access to the required resources to that
user account.

Please reply to this message in the news group (not by E-mail) with
more information to help other people understand the problem. For
example:

What version of XP (Home Edition or Professional) is each computer
running?

If computer1 is running Professional, have you disabled simple file
sharing?

Why have you disabled the Guest account?
