I have two laptops running Windows 2000 Professional, that
I use to connect to a network, but I have one network
account. My network password expired and I changed it on
one of the laptops. Now I cannot access the network on the
other laptop, as it's local copy of the password is
incorrect, and I can't change the local copy. How can I re-
synchronize the passwords?

Hi Mike,

go to the other PC, right click My Computer -> Manage -> Local Users and
Groups -> Users -> right click on your user account and select Set
Password... Make sure passwords and usernames on both PCs are same.

I hope this helps you out.

Try control-alt-delte and select change password to change password for
local computer accounts. -- Steve

Sorry Mike, this won't work, I missed part of your post (some details).

One notebook is synchronized with domain, so that's OK. On the other you can
use old password till you can connect it to the domain when it will get
synchronized...

If you need to access files on the other PC maybe you can create local user
or try mapping hard drive by typing in command line:

net use x: \\myotherlaptop\c$ /user:domain\user password

x: = your mapped hard drive
myotherlaptop = Your laptop name
c$ = sharename (it can be c$ or any other share)
domain = your domain name
user = your domain username
password = your old password

I hope this helps you out.

Thank you for the suggestions Miha, but unfortunately I
still cannot resolve the problem.
If I log on to the problem laptop not connected to the
network, then it won't let me change the local version of
my network password as it can't connect to the domain
controller.
If I login with the local admin account it will only
display local accounts, so again I can't change the
network account password.
And I can't log on to the network because of the password
conflict.
I seem to be stuck!

Thanks Steve, but when I try that not connected to the
network it tells me the domain is not available. And I
can't actually get into the network because of the
password mismatch.
