Hi,
If i select the option "Save Password", will my password be save in
registry ? Where ? Is it in Plain Text ?

Reguards,

Victor

Hi Victor :-)

Take a look at the information here and see if it answer your questions:

Definition: password cache

Recovering Windows Password Cache Entries
http://www.securiteam.com/securityreviews/5OP0N2KF6S.html

Passwords & User ID are stored in SAM in XP & W2k
Windows NT (and 2k, xp) stores this in the SAM. It's just a part of the
registry.

Hope this helps :-)

Hi Jan,
Thanks for your reply.

When Internet Explorer pop-up the authentication window, and i choose to
"Save Password", After that my explorer will check at the windows cache to
get my credentials or my saved password will be in another place ?

I understood when should windows use the cache but this is another case,
don't you agree ?

Thanks,

Victor

Hmmm.....are you saying that autocomplete is saving the password, bu, not in
the correct folder? Do you see the password in the cache folder? Do you
know where else the password is being saved? If needed, try this:
Protected Storage PassView (freeware) from

Hope this helps :-)

Assuming you are talking about web site passwords, yes. If a dial-up
password, and also depending on operating system - maybe no:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q148925/

Autocomplete, User Names and Passwords on Forms are stored in this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\IntelliForms\SPW

Dialup - possibly *.pwl
Is it in Plain Text ?

No, it is encrypted.
