The password is not retreivable off a w2k system.
But administrative access can be gained by using 3rd party software, see
www.sysinternals.com
or CIA Commander last I heard it was $750 to purchase.

If the data is important then take it to a professional (search on web) or
try putting hd in another w2k machine.
If it is not then re-install.

What kind of data do you expect to be deleted in a re-install? I can't
think of any, especially if you don't re-install into the original
WINNT directory. There may be some stuff deleted from the directory
Program Files/Common Files, and a few programs won't run properly
because they need to be installed under this new configuration, but no
significant personal data should be lost.
