os: xp home, french.
problem: each time microsoft anti-spyware starts, it comes up with an error:
"pas de disk". i assume it's expecting to find something somewhere, but isn't
finding it.
the software is installed on a local drive, but it's not c:. it isn't
possible to install to c: as that's kept for a removable drive.
i've checked the registry, and there are no paths that i can find that point
to c:\.
the anti-spyware is working fine in all other respects, and this problem is
fixed by clicking continue or cancel each time the message pops up.

any suggestions as to how to make the problem go away permanently?

I'm not completely certain whether your issue is a bug, relating to the fact
that the C drive isn't a permanent drive, or an installer bug.

I've got Microsoft Antispyware installed on E, for example, with no issues
(windows also boots from E)--but there is, in fact, a C drive in the
machine.

However, I suspect that this is an installer issue--rather than a bug about
drive letters.

The typical presentation of the installer issue is a set of spurious prompts
for a completely unrelated app upon startup.

Do you see anything in the dialog boxes that names or references a
particular application other than Microsoft Antispyware?

thanks bill

the user is re-installing and will report back to me. i'll let you know. if
the problem continues, i'll get the exact text of the message and post it
here.

thanks again for your help
