can I partition a 60 gig HD to 3 - 20 gig? one for XP and Office software, one for Internet and one for data, misc files. My thinking is that the computer should be faster, since it would only need to search a 20 gig 'drive' for what it wants. Also Defragging an individual 'drive' would be faster. Lastly, would it be easier to isolate a virus?

I doubt if any speed difference would be noticeable.

I have a 120 Gb split into three 32's and a 24. That's just to be a bit more
efficient about space and cluster size.

Yes you can and it won't speed up your PC for the most part. It is a better
way of keeping files more organized. Plus if your primary partition for some
reason dies and your have to reinstall XP you will have your data and
whatever on the other partitions and they will be safe.

I hope this helps
