After creating a new partition with partition magic
putting windows 2k on it, windows xp cannot be brought up.

Because, I think, Partiton Magic changed the MBR (Master Boot Record). You
will have to ask them for help.

Try installing the Boot Magic component of Partition Magic on the Win2k
setup. Assuming you didn't wipe out the XP setup when install Win2k, it
should see both setups and allow you to create a boot menu. That said,
usually, Boot Magic needs to be on a small partition at the beginning of the
drive preceding all other partitions. Hence you may get a message that you
need to do this in which case you will need to go back into Partition Magic,
adjust the size of one of the partitions to give you enough free space to
create the partition for Boot Magic. The manual says Boot Magic needs
around 8MB, you might want to give it 10MB to play safe.
