I have a new 250G drive with 2 partitions H: (130) and I: (110) running XP
SP2.
The system will be used for gaming and photoshop.
Are there advantages to the seperate partitions or wolud I be a happier
camper if I reload the OS with a single H. Thanks in advance...

There is a definite advantage to having two partitions for Photoshop.
Photoshop prefers to have its swap file (which it calls a "scratch
disk" IIRC) on a partition or hard drive separate from where the main
operating system is installed.

Think of the hard drive as a filing cabinet. Having multiple
partitions on a drive is similar to having multiple drawers in the
filing cabinet as opposed to a single huge drawer.

With separate partitions it is often easier to keep items segregated.
You can, for example, more easily have different backup schedules and
procedures for different types of files.

However when you run out of space in one partition you then have to
either adjust the partition sizes (cumbersome and requires specialized
software) or make changes in how you use the different partitions.

Good luck

What's on C:\, and how much space?
Two partitions is fine, but I would redefine it. XP and apps on H:, and
your data on I: partition.
Can't see the need for so much space on the XP partition. What's the
purpose?
