Is product activition only for the DownLoad of Partition Magic or is
it also for the BOXED retail version 8.02??

With PQ being bought out I don't want to trust to another company
to keep activating my version when I upgrade my computer once or
twice a year.

(was planing on upgrading my PM 7.0 and driveimage 4.0)
Thanks,
jmc

Both.

when I upgrade my computer once or twice a year.

It doesnt use that type of activation. It uses .NET
which doesnt rely on the operation flogging it to do that.

Here's another question along those lines.
Background: Purchased, as an upgrade, online, DriveImage 7.0 which came with
DI 2002. I opted for both the download and to be mailed the CDs for both
products. Download went well, made my own CDs. Received the serial numbers
to unlock the product and register it online. Both installed correctly and
work.

Now the strange part. Received, via UPS, 3 days business day delivery,
actually was 2 days, two bent and one of the bent CDs cracked. These were
CD1 - DI 7.0 and CD2 - DI 2002 each in their own sleeve. Both unusable.
Emailed back to PQ as reply from the original receipt and serial number info
email, asking for replacements of both products due to shipping damage.
Received a copy of DI 7.0 in a sleeve, which had no provisions for DI 2002
on it. I emailed PQ again explaining the situation asking for my copy of DI
2002. In response to my request, I received an unopened, sealed copy of the
retail version of DI 7.0 which has DI 2002 on it. Correct me if I'm wrong,
haven't opened the box. The retail version has its own serial number etc.,
so now I own two different licenses for DI 7.0 and two licenses for DI 2002?

Very likely.

That sounds hopeful. I am afraid that I don't know how
".NET" functions or even what it is.

Thanks for the thoughts!

Really depends on how you define product activation.

The short story is that what the boxed version
uses will still work even if powerquest vanishes
from the face of the earth tomorrow.
