I have been trying to create partions on my laptop
running XP Home edition but when I get to this level I'm
stuck---
create partition primary [size=n] [offset=n] [noerr]

May someone show me how to complete this part? My Hard
disk has 30Gbytes free. I would want to install linux on
the new partition. I know the new partition should have
to be formated to use VFAT file system.

Hey Charles,

I doubt anyone here will help you install L*nux :). Ok, I'm not sure
where you are that you are, but, there are lots of ways to manage partitions
and you shouldn't have to do it manually.

#1: Backup your hard drive
#2: Seriously, back it up
#3: If the 30 gigs is unallocated, just go ahead and start a Linux install,
almost all of them will help you modify partitions on setup.
#4: If the 30 gigs is not "free space" but is allocated to your current
WinXP partition (ie: in XP if it says Drive C: 30 gigs free) you will need
to RESIZE that partition. A little more complex, a little more dangerous.
Use a third party software program suchs as Partition Magic or I'm sure you
can do it with some linux based freeware. (Partition Magic is extremely
easy to use)
