How should I partition SATA drives. I'm going to had a C drive of 160 MB and
a 2nd hard drive of 300 MB. The C drive will have a D portion for the DISE
backup files that came on the original system XP Pro.

What size is efficient for partitioning? How to do it? Computer is home
computer with lots of computer online game files and photos.

I would not back up to the same drive, even if it has a different partition.
I would back up critical files to a totally different drive.

No one can actually tell you what partitions to create we can only
suggest...
I suggest leaving that D partition alone as it is your only means of
reinstallation with the factory installed OS on it and usually a means to
access it tru the booting sequence.
the 2nd hd could be partitioned for usage...1 partition for games..another
for photos..another for programs..another for personal saved files. The IE
cache and the Outlook Express mailbox can all be moved to the new HD...under
the tools option.Files that you download can be saved to the new drive...the
page file could be moved to the new drive.
All programs that you install in the future could be installed to the new
drive. The size of the partitions depend upon what you aim to place on that
partition...the larger the indiv files( photo files being normally larger
that saved personal files)the larger the space required.
I use BootItNG for my partition work...its easy to use and it runs right off
a floppy.
http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/bootitng.html
download the file...expand it to a floppy....start system with floppy in
place
When the screen comes up saying install ....cancel the install and it will
run from the floppy.
go to the partition work section and you should see all of your
drives/partitions.
there is a readme file included which I suggest you read.
