Hi:
Am interested in creating 2 partitions on a new portable HD (Western Digital
320 GB). The drive comes pre-formated in FAT (or FAT32, not sure) so that
both a PC and a Mac can write to it. Having read some reviews, writing under
XP is much faster, etc. to NTFS. Would appreciate any cautions and
pointers/steps to creating both a NTFS and FAT partition so I can back-up
both my XP SP3 desktop and a new iMac to this HD. ..it's been a long time
since I used the DOS shell, etc., hopefully I can do this from the XP admin
manager?
Thanks much in advance.

From the Windows box, delete the fat32 partition using Disk Management,
create an NTFS partition of the required size, then plug the drive into your
Mac and use Disk Utility to create a partition on the remaining space.

Thanks!
