my cpc came with an 80 G hard drive and has no partitions. it has only a c: drive and that obviously is the boot drive. after using fdisk and successfully making two partitions, when i use my restore cd to restore the system, the setup restores my pc to the factory settings and leaves me with only one drive. how can i make two drives ?

It looks like you will have to get a Retail or OEM version of WinXP CD to
do that. The Restore CD is exactly that. It
restores your computer to the original config.

You can get a third party partitioning program like Partition Magic from
http://www.powerquest.com or BootIt NG from http://www.terabyte.com

These programs can perform non-destructive partitioning.
