What would make a partition bad. I am having a problem with my start up,
it'll get to the advanced screen options, then if I hit start normal or
reboot it will try to start up then all of a sudden reboot the computer.
I've tried all the recover options exept for repartitioning and formatting
the drive. I am running XP Pro and when I do the chkdsk /p or /r it'll show
no errors and if I try to do the recover in the installation it tells me the
partition will not work. I have even tried using GoBack but it doesn't go
back far enough. I don't want to loose my data. Does anyone have any
suggestions?

You cant add a partition to the/a drive already formatted with a file system
on it,it needs to be unalocatted. If you want to add a partition, you'll need to re
format the hd,in recovery type:DiskPart /
The /? brings up the menu,w/o /? its ready to perform cmds, when youre thr
type:EXIT in the main cmd screen type:FORMAT C: /FS:ntf
C: being the volume,D: or E: etc. works also.

so I'm going to have to repartition the hd? if so I am going to call up
microsoft because this is the 4th time in the week in a half that I've had
xp pro that the system has failed to start
