My C: drive has no 'unallocated space' so I cant seem to
creat a new partition. The drive is no where near full.
please help!
Also how much space should I leave for my system/boot
partition, once I figure out how to partition?

Matt;
You can not modify the partition without losing data with Windows
native tools.
If there is no unallocated space, the partition already uses it all.
You want a minimum 4gb for the partition Windows resides, more if
applications and data are also residing on it.

What you have to do is resize your existing partition (smaller) and
use free space left behind (unallocated) to make a second partition.
I recommend "Partition Magic 8", but you might ask around here for an
acceptable free tool if money is an issue.

I like to leave at least 6 Gigs for my OS partition, as it seems that
even when you direct all software to other partitions, a lot of them
seem to install common files to the C:\ drive anyway. And take into
consideration that certain things (screensavers, drivers and such)
always install to C:\....... it's good to leave yourself some extra
space.

if all your space is allocated to the C drive how can you
unallocate space to create a partition, i have a program
that wants to run off the cd and the only way to run this
off my hd is to copy some files into a partitioned drive
to fool the program into thinking it is the cd.

I can't seem to create a partition because i have no
unallocated space, how can i unallocate space through
windows xp
help please
