Hi there, im planning on buying a new computer for my sister. and i plan on ordering her Xp to go with it, as it doesnt come with an OS. If i were to create a partition on the new hard drive.. could i use system restore to restore it to its very basic settings.??

Hi

System Restore doesn't monitor all files on a partition - data files are an
example. So you wouldn't be able to use SR to revert the system to exactly
the same as when XP was installed. SR isn't a backup application and
shouldn't be used as one. The initial checkpoint that SR creates will, over
time, be relegated to the bottom of the stack and then deleted when SR has
used up all the partition space allocated to it.
