I have a home built comp with an AMD 1900 and I am running Xp Pro. I am
going to be getting a new HD. It will prob be at least 200gb. What would
be some ideas on how big i should make the partitions. the drive will
prob be a maxtor, ata133, 8 mb cache. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You should make it as large as you need. If your doing say, audio video you
would want a larger secondary partition so you don't rely on doing heavy AV
transcoding on the system partition. ..etc

Your system drive should be adequately sized due again to your needs, give
yourself adequate space for today and what you may need down the road. If
you don't really have a need for multiple partitions just simply have one
large uber drive.

One note, benefits of splitting the drive up is it gives you a place to
save/store data in the likely chance you need to re-install the operating
system and have to zap the system drive. Also if you want to share files
you won't muck with your ACLs for the system partition.

Paul.
