partition problem

I reinstalled XP and now my computer is full. there
should be plenty of space on there. I think there's a
problem with my partition set up. Everything I've looked
at tells me that I can't re-format the partition because
it is needed for XP. Thanks for any and all help.

There are tools out there that will let you modify the partitions
non-destructively...you don't have to reformat.

How big is the physical hard drive? How does that compare to the
total size of the partition that Windows sees? If there is a large
difference, chances are you made a relatively small partition when
reinstalling XP and have some unallocated space that could be used.
If this is the case, a third party software program like
PartitionMagic or BootItNG will let you reclaim that space without
destroying your data.

If you're interested, there is a very handy freeware utility that
will, among many other things, report not only the physical size of
your hard drives, but give you details of the partition information as
well. It may help you in tracking down your lost disk space.
