sytem has 2 HDD's..

first HDD has not been partitioned/formatted.
second HDD is partioned/formatted w/NTFS, extended w/some
logicals..

objective is to reload os onto first HD which is not
partitioned/formatted.

problem is, after system install files loads from cd, and
displays partition/drive info, drive letter 'c' is
assigned to the logical on HDD #2.

and if partition is created on HDD #1, it assigns it a
letter proceeding those on HDD #2.

How can this be corrected?

You will boot from the 2000 CD, choose new install, choose hard drive 1,
create partition and format it. After it is formatted exit setup and
reboot. Now when you boot from CD to do the install the drive letters
will be as you want.

wait.. i got it to work but that's not how.. i thought
that was exactly what i did before and it still blew
assigning c. if that isn't what i did to install it last
time, what do you think i did??

anyway, the only way i could see to fix the problem was to
physically disconnect the second HDD, the reconnect after
the os was loaded on the first HDD w/c properly assigned.

why don't you guys put the function in the cd setup to
partion to SIZE requested, and also - reassign drive
letters, wow that was a major PITA deal, 5 hours yesterday.
