Partition/Format E: from C: ??how

I want to partition and format E: from C:. Where is a web site w/
directions written well.
E: won't open, says not formatted, says network disc cannot be formatted.
FDisc gives 5 selectios- only one shows E:
Floppy not in machine. F: CDRom should not have to be used to format . .
.. I can set BIOS to boot from F:CDRom WIN98SE CD but why ?

Sounds like you are in over your head just a tad.

That last is the problem, for some reason the system
has decided its a network disc when it presumably isnt.
When that problem is fixed, you should be able to format it.

Or you are getting confused and its actually
the cdrom drive thats got the E letter in that
situation and thats why it wont let you format it.

The letters shown in fdisk arent necessarily
the letters you see when booted in the OS.

It may be one way to do what you want if the OS gets confused
and decides that the partition you want to format is a network drive.

Because it may be one way to format that partition.

Just watch out tho, the drive letters usually change when you boot
from the CD, because Win9x creates a ram drive as part of the
process of those boots. Easy to format the wrong drive letter.

For christ sake be careful if you arent fully backed up.
VERY easy to format the wrong partition in your situation.
