After loading XP Professional I keep getting "low space"
messages and no matter how much I try to clean up the D
partition I keep getting these messages. Just today I
ended erroring out when my allowing my automatic upload
from Windows.

Is there a way to increase my D:partition? Or am I going
to need to start over with my Windows XP upgrade?

In that case, can I just start over, reload WinXP as
though the first time and watch when it is setting the
partition and force it to a setting of - say 5 or 6 GB
versus the 2.7 it used? I have a 60 GB Harddrive and I
seem to be taking quite a while filling it up so...?

PS - thank you for your help/comments in advance.

Tim;
You can also perform a Clean Installation.
You can delete all partitions in step 5 and recreate them to your
liking.
I suggest to keep the OS partition at least 4gb.
At 4gb, put NOTHING else but the OS.
that will leave enough for updates Service Packs etc.
Even then it might get tight.

Clean Installation:
Disconnect all peripherals (camera, printer, scanner, etc)
Go to BIOS and set CDROM as boot device before hard drive.
Insert Windows XP CD and reboot.
At "Press any key to boot to CDROM" quickly press a key and follow the
prompts for a Clean installation:

Delete all partitions in step 5 if you desire to erase all data on the
hard drive.
Partitioning and formatting will be done automatically.
All data will be destroyed, back-up important data first.

After you are finished, you will need to load the appropriate drivers.

If your computer was shipped with Windows XP, these procedures may or
may not apply.
Check your manual or contact the computer manufacturer for more
details.

Tim, noticed "system_sav" in your subject line? Is this a Compaq laptop? If
yes, "system_sav" is used for storing the system state when hibernating.
It's a part of Compaq's power management tools. May want to look into the
possibiility of disabling that and using the builtin Hibernate/hiberfil.sys
arrangement XP uses.
