partition drive

hi everyone,
have a partition drive for system recovery, and i just burned it in dvd, and
i want to format that partition, is it ok now to do so? dont want to do
things that im not sure of though, experienced vista users and prof its ur
call,

Hi,

Just copying the contents of the recovery volume may not be sufficient. What
you will need in the event of a catastrophic failure is some means of
booting into a recovery environment. Your system's mbr likely has
proprietary code to allow for this, but it may not be able to point to the
DVD as it's hard coded to load the recovery volume. Most manufacturers
provide a means of creating your own disks (this is different than copying
the volume), or ordering them for a nominal fee if you want to recover the
space reserved by the recovery volume. Check your system documentation for
this.
