partition Drive C:

How does one partition Drive C: ? I have an HP Presario with Windows XP
Home Edition. The system works very well, however, I was told that if I
partition the Hard Drive, then my system would boot faster, games would load
faster etc. I understand the logic but can it be done with all of your
programs already installed? I only have my account on Windows XP.

The computer was setup to have a Drive C: where all the system files and
programs are installed and Drive D: for recovery.

My Hard Drive is 80 gigabytes. I would like to have a partition C: for the
system files, D: for my games and E: (which is now my CD: R/W drive) for
other programs

In short you can partition drive c, but what you have been told is not quite
true.
The idea of partitioning a drive is to make one particular drive safe from
virus and to protect your data and files.

If you were going to partition your drive, i would recommend that one drive
be your OS & apps (applications) and other drive data (from game files) and
other files.

Partition magic 8 is good program to use to partition your drive

You've been told wrong. There may be good reasons for having
multiple partitions, but these are not among them. It will not
make the system boot faster or games load faster.

done with all of your programs already installed? I only have my

You can not change the existing partition structure
non-destructively with native Windows tools. The only way to do
this is with a third-party program such as Partition Magic.
