Hi can anyone help please.
I want to partition my 'C' drive as I wish to download some trial programs
which I do not want to link into any on my 'C' drive. For example I d/l the
trail version of MS Office 2007 and it overwrote my 2003 version! I got it
all back again but it did disrupt my system.
I know the best way would have been to partion the drive when I set up the
new computer but can anyone tell me how to do so now.
Thanks

That wont help; A program writes entries to the registry and other folders
on your system drive.
The only methods are to use a dual boot system ie having two windows
installations, or VPC (Virtual PC) - whichever route will require 2 win
licences

You can install office 2007 and choose parallel install, which will still
leave Office 2003 intact. Outlook 2007 will not be installed unless you
uninstall OL2003

You cannot re partition a drive within win other than by using a third party
utility.

Bear in mind that almost all programs create registry entries when you
install them. If the registry entries for a new version of a program
overwrite a previous version's, that's a program you can't have two
versions of installed at once. That's true even if you install the
program to a different partition.

Hi to both of you

Thanks for taking the trouble to explain. I hadn't realised all of what you
said. At least I now know what to do and what will happen.

Thans again
