Another PCBD-Using XP Home SP2. IE 6. Most of the time, problem is: When I
visit most websites can be viewed but have a partial - page cannot be
displayed included. I deleted temp files, ran check disk, defrag and
Anti-Virus & Spysweeper. Also, downloaded Pagefix to correct registry.
Nothing worked. Not sure what to do next. Any suggestions? Thanks in
advance.

Hi,
It sounds like a security or ad-blocking program is blocking content that
meets its definition of "ad." Spysweeper may be the culprit. Running any
other programs that might be blocking ads?

Are you running a HOSTS file? Several ad-blockers create and use a HOSTS
file.

To check the HOSTS file in Windows XP...
Make sure that Windows is showing hidden files and is
not hiding file extensions for known file types then check for a HOSTS file
at [C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc] Open the HOSTS file with notepad. If
there are entries you wish to disable, you can put the pound sign (#) in
front an entry to disable it. Then File> Save. Or you can rename the HOSTS
file to HOSTS.OLD to disable it.
More on the HOSTS file at http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm and
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hostsfaq.htm

Hope this helps,

Hi,
I checked spysweeper and there doesn't seem to be any problem. Also, finally
found HOSTS file, each line item begins with either # or 127 so don't think
that's the problem either. Should I rename anyway? Did investigate the link
provided which was informative, but haven't decided what to try next.
