partial images being displayed in IE

We generate .png images that are downloaded as part of an
ASP page. Occassionally, the image only partially shows
up. Vertically it's fine, horizontally it only displays
the first 100 pixels (or so) instead of the 700 pixels
required to display the whole image.

The complete image appears to have been downloaded, as it
can be saved fine (right-click, save as...). Oddly
enough, selecting the "properties" option makes the image
display properly in the browser.

We've been able to reproduce this on various platforms
(2000, XP, 98) using different IE versions (5.0, 6.0).

Does anyone know what could be causing this sporatic
behaviour?

Clear the IE cache. I.E./Tools/Options/General/Delete files (and delete
offline content.) It's often recommended that the Temporary Internet Files
(folder) be kept at
40-50 MB. Bigger isn't necessarily better.
