Partial Image Loading with Javascript in IE 6

I am designing a webpage in Dreamweaver with a javascript SwapImage script.
I am having problems with IE 6 erratically loading images in response to the
javascript. It randomly renders some images as whole or partial without any
apparent pattern. Using Netscape 7.1 or Firefox browsers, the page works
with no problem. When first testing my page design, it worked perfectly in
IE 6, but now what IE displays is completely unpredictable with no apparent
change in the page code.

Is this problem unique to me or is there any documentation on this problem?

Thanks for any help.

Hi,
Have you cleared the IE cache? This may just be a cache problem.

Hi James :-)

There have been problems associated with the 6.0 update on some machines
that causes IE to open and/or respond very slowly. Uninstall the Java 6
update from Add/Remove Programs. If it does not revert back to the Java
1.5.0_05 then reinstall the _05. You can find the _05 here:

Hope this helps.

Hi Don:

Thanks for the suggestion. I cleared the cache and it doesn't seem to effect
the partial image loading problem.

Best,
James H.

Hi Jan:

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked the Control Panel and found I had
version 4 of the Java Runtime Enviroment installed on my system, so I
upgraded to the version 5 you linked. It didn't seem to make any difference.
I guess I will try to analyze the Javascript coding on my page some more,
but it is mysterious behavior because the Mozilla browsers, Netscape and
Firefox, handle the page without any problem, and IE 6 worked fine at first,
then became erratic with no apparent changes to webpage coding.

Thanks for the help,
James H.

You're very welcome. Sorry that I could not be of more assistance.
However, IE does not deal with all images the same as FireFox or other
browsers. As you said that it had been working, it might also be a video
driver, IE can be very hard on them and it may need to be updated.

But, that is about all that I can think of at this point. Perhaps someone
else here has more experience and can give you the information you need to
resolve the issue. :-)
