The company I work for gave me this broken printer. It needs the little
paper feed drive belt that you see when you open the rear cover. HP doesn't
support this printer anymore. If anyone has this belt to sell me let me
know.

Thanks for the link. However that part is unavailable. The part number is
XF9-0410-000. I was hoping a repair person would have a parts printer and
sell me the belt from there.

Try http://www.metrofuser.com/models/4.htm and look for RG5-0456. Other
suppliers may have this part also, they are usually refurbished units.
This is the complete output (delivery) assembly and is not very expensive.
Likely it is better to replace the complete assembly anyway as these have a
habit of causing exit paper jams as they become worn. The assembly is easy to
replace. Before you spend too much on this printer I would check to see if the
fuser is in good condition as they cost heaps.

These printers are probably the best that HP have made. I'm not too
concerned about minor defects. We have a few of them at work that were taken
out of the offices and placed in the production and shipping areas. They are
running 24/7 and most have a 500,000 page count. The one I have works well
and I am not interested in buying parts I don't need.

I think HP have made better laser printers but not many, the LJ4 and LJ4+ are
workhorses and have given reliable service for more than 10 years.
I wasn't trying to sell you any parts, I don't sell parts. The delivery
assembly will fail in time, if the belt is broken then that is probably an
indication that the whole assembly is nearing end of life, that was the point I
was trying to make. 500,000 pages from a LJ4 can only be achieved if the fuser
and transfer rollers have been replaced at least twice during its life. The
printer is rated at 150,000 pages between maintenance kits (HP recommendation)
but can in some cases do more but not 500,000 pages.
You may find the belt at one of the many HP laser parts refurbishers, I suspect
they are having these belts made for them since HP no longer manufacture parts
for this printer. The belt is one of the items that is replaced during
refurbishment.
Good luck
Tony

Tony,
You are probably right. I just want to get the printer running so I can test
and/or repair some cartridges. Thanks go to Dennis from Metro Fuser who
phoned me and gave me the name of a supplier Parts to Go who would sell me
the belt for $3. They have a minimum order of $20 so I have to think of some
other parts I need.

Google is your friend - putting in the above part number came up with many hits
for new or refurb belts. On the other hand, LaserJet 4's can often be found
for $50 or less, which may be less than the belt....

I pick them up with toner for around $5-$10 bucks al the time at the local
Salvation Army stores or Deseret Industries stores.
