Self Taught so Please be patient with me

Of course they want me to buy the software to " get rid of the virus
" I called Symantec ..
because I use Norton. They " Removed " the Virus. This morning .I
ran Pareto and ..
the VIRUS IS STILL THERE ! The Vundo Virus.
My question is who do I trust .. What should I do. Thanks very
very much for your
help.

I did a Google for "ParetoLogic" and came up with quite a few
unflattering websites. If you have the Vundo trojan, do the following:

1. Go through the preparatory work here:
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

2. Then do the specific removal steps here:
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Winfixer

You may also want to include scanning with either Sysclean or Multi_AV,
plus AVG Anti-Spyware (formerly Ewido - http://www.ewido.net/en/) and
follow instructions to do all scans in Safe Mode.

When all else fails, run HijackThis and post your log in one of the
specialty forums listed at the link above (not here, please).

Standard caveat - If the procedures look too complex - and there is no
shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a
professional computer repair shop (not your local version of
BigStoreUSA). Please be aware that not all local shops are skilled at
removing malware and even if they are, your computer may be so infested
that Windows will need to be clean-installed. Have all your data backed
up before you take the machine into a shop.

I have read of this problem on other forums. It is usually a good idea to
have more than one anti-virus program, but only one running in the
background. Other people have reported having a virus, but their other
anti-virus programs say they are "clean." This also happens with anti-spyware
programs. What should you do?

As Elephant Boy pointed out, a Google search could solve the problem. Here
are some other possible solutions:

The anti-virus program might simply be spotting an empty folder. This
happens to me every time I run SpyBot and it reports "EverAd." I THINK that
my software blocks the EverAd program itself, but not until it creates a
folder. My other programs don't detect it. I always delete it, but it keeps
coming back.

I was surprised when ClamWin reported that I had a Trojan Horse. It turned
out that the program needed three parts in order to run, and only one part
had made it through my protection. Since it was harmless, nothing else
detected it. I then deleted it.
