My children use my computer but there are some programs that I would not like
my children to run is there a way that I can stop them from running certain
programs by using different usernames and passwords. So when I logon I have
access to everything and when my children want on under a different username
and password I can prohibit them from using a certain program. Or is there
some built-in parent control allow me to just prohibit a certain program from
being activated without a passport thank you for any help

None of this information will work I am using Windows home edition plus I am
not trying to protect a file or documents I would like to stop my children
from running certain programs that are on my computer. I.e. I have certain
video games, as well as filesharing programs, I would like to only allow
certain users to launch these programs the information provided above would
be helpful if I used Windows professional and was only trying to protect
certain documents can you provide me with more help thank you

For some requirements, you may find it easier to invest in a
3rd-party solution, such as NetNanny or CyberPatrol.

You need to be aware, however, that *NO* technical or software
solution is fool-proof, and _none_ can ever adequately take the place of
live adult supervision. If you cannot trust your children to
safely/properly use the computer without supervision, you may have to
consider limiting their access to it.

Actually, the instructions remain the same, regardless of the version
of WinXP.

plus I am
not trying to protect a file or documents I would like to stop my children
from running certain programs that are on my computer. I.e. I have certain
video games, as well as filesharing programs, I would like to only allow
certain users to launch these programs

And what are programs, other than files (their being executable files
is irrelevant) located in specific folders?
