I need, on occasion, to connect to a device (some older POS terminals &
certain industrial equipment are good examples) that has a parallel port.
With newer laptops coming out sans parallel ports, I can get a physical
USB-to-parallel adapter.
The problem is not the hardware device itself, but the fact that some device
drivers available will not recognize the USB port (imagine that!). Does
anyone know of a software product that makes a serial or USB port emulate a
parallel port so that these older drivers can see it correctly as a parallel
port.
Is this even possible with XP, or should I just keep my old laptop around
wiht its trusty parallel port for these occasions?
