You can use XP for sending or receiving faxes. The faxes sent/received will
be a paperless entity unless you choose to print them.
For this you need an analog telephone connection to your PC and a modem.
Make sure the modem is a Microsoft certified modem listed in
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ca...ryl2&pgn=01a642fd-2790-420f-90bd-85df6a377206 .
You can install the Fax software as follows. Goto Control Panel->Add/Remove
Programs->Add/Remove Windows Components. Check on Fax. Note this might
require the original OS CD. This will install the Fax component on your
machine.
Launch Fax Console and configure fax [Start->All
Programs->Accessories->Communications->Fax->Fax Console->Tools->Configure
Faxes]. Configure receiving of faxes on your device - you may want to have
automatic reception enabled.
Your Fax is now setup for use. All your Faxes will be saved on your hard
disk and you can view.manage them from the Fax Console. If you choose to
print the Fax you may always open a Fax item and print it. There are other
ways to print it too.
