I have a Dazzle Capure card and break out box that will capture analog and DV that I bought with my computer From Dell 2 years ago. It came with movie studio 4. I don't want to use movie studio, I want to use movie maker 1 instead, is this possible with my analog camcorder. In the program record settings it shows the dazzle capture in vidio but not in audio and there is no signal or lines of resolution present, is this problem fixable. I don't even know the model number of this devise to get support from Dazzle. It has a fire wire and a 25 or 26 pin plug that hooks to the capure card on back of computer and you can hook up s-vidio, composite and 1394 firewire to front for capture and composite and s-video on back for export.

Hi Tod,

I'm in the middle of capturing my Christmas footage from my analog Hi8
camcorder, using the Dazzle 80 and MM2. When it's done, I'll check capture
with the same setup but using MM1.

I'll let you know what I see.

Tod,

Capturing from my Hi8 camcorder, using either MM1 or MM2, works fine with
the Dazzle 80. Video is via S-video connections and audio via the RCA cables
plugged into the Dazzle unit.

Maybe a reinstallation of your dazzle software would help.... and updating
drivers/software.

I didn't get software with my Dazzle Capture card or Breakout box but I did get updated drivers from Dell. I didn't get an instruction book with my Dazzle either. Is it important to have both s-video and rca plugs hooked up at the same time for this to work properly, I'm a rookie at this I need all the help I can get. Dell just likes to sell sell sell and don't spend enough money to make sure the tech people know how to operate the equipment the sell and that is what I have been dealing with the last two months, everything they tell you is what they read from instruction manuals not on hand training.

I tried hooking both RCA and S-VIDEO up at the same time still video decoder in record configure not present. It says being used by another application. in record settings I can pick the dazzle for capture of video but line-in or soundblaster live are all I can pick for audio.

It seems that many people have to use the line-in to their sound card
instead of going into the Dazzle unit.

You wouldn't go from the Dazzle 80 to the sound card with the audio lines.
You would go from the camcorder or VCR to the sound card, and go into the
Dazzle 80 with just the video line.
