Having been to your site as well as countless others, I'm hopeful that you
can resolve a problem that I cannot:

When attempting to save my movie to DV-AVI (either directly to camcorder or
via the 'save to computer' option') I receive the r6025 Microsoft C++ run
time error. There's plenty of space on the drive and no other programs
running. I've reinstalled MM2 and retried the saving to no avail. It
crashes at exactly the same spot every time. The only option I see at this
point is to completely nuke my avi files and start again from scratch. Is
there an alternative I'm missing?

Helpless and Freekin' Frustrated

Hi Leo,

That's an error message associated with memory, so I'd have to guess that
it's more due to project complexity than to hard drive space or source
files.... but you don't note anything about how big your project is or the
types of source files involved.... you note AVI files but I don't know if
they are DV-AVI files or downloaded ones compressed with a Divx codec.

It could be related to source files or memory.... if source files, you might
need to convert them first. If memory, you can increase your virtual memory
of break the project down into sub-projects and put the sub-parts together.

Hello there,

Here is the definition for that error code.

pure virtual function call
No object has been instantiated to handle the pure virtual function call.
This error is caused by calling a virtual function in an abstract base class
through a pointer that is created by a cast to the type of the derived
class, but is actually a pointer to the base class. This can occur when
casting from a void* to a pointer to a class when the void* was created
during the construction of the base class.

The plain English version of that is, Its Catch 22 :))

PowerPoint 2000 is known to cause the problem, are you running that
software? if so go here for the solution.

The same error can occur if you have a badly installed JAVA Console, OR, if
you have it installed twice (Check ADD/REMOVE programs)

It can also occur because of Office XP and several games & Microsoft Money.
All explanations found indicate malformed installations of the software
and/or systems registry and not having updated the system (Windows Update)

This last link has a procedure that does not seem to be Microsoft Money
specific and might be worth looking at first.

Gentlemen,

My thanks for you advice. I've attempted to render the project in many
different states with little success. The first third of the movie renders
fine on its own, the last 2/3 of the project renders fine on its own. This
issue supports the memory allocation error you spoke of, I think. However,
if I eliminate the additional soundtrack files, the project still stalls at
the same place as it does without them. This implies to me that the project
has a file problem as opposed to a memory problem, does it not?

Still Confused

Hello there,

The links I suggested in the previous message offered some solutions.
Assuming you tried them and you still have a problem then we need to look at
the project itself.

First can you create a new project and drag your imported video to the
video time line and then click on FILE > SAVE MOVIE and follow that dialog
through as in the project you are having trouble with. Does this create a
new video file for you? If not, what happens?

Next, in the project you are having trouble with, can you give us a list
of every type of file being used. AVI, MPG, JPG etc etc.

Best Wishes.....John Kelly

Gentlemen,

My thanks for your attention to the problem. It turns out that the r6025
C++ run time errror was a result of a corrupted DV-AVI source file. Bizarre.
Nothing to do with memory at all (and the weirdest part was that it rendered
just fine down to a WMN file but crashed when rendering back to the
camcorder). Anyways, all is well and my thanks sincere,

Uncle Leo

Hi,
I have the same problem. How did you find out which one is corrupted. Was it
obvious or you tested sth? It looks that mine are ok at first look.
Thanks in advance
