Hi Folks,
All my health issues seem to be unimportant today. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer on Wednesday. She goes into hospital on may 10th for an op. They reckon she caught it early enough. The cancer itself measures about 1 and a half inches across which, they reckon isn't too bad.
Nothing like the mention of cancer to clear one's vision.

Sorry to hear that Zed :(.

The good news is that they've caught it early, and the op is only 10 days away (which will fly by!) :thumb:.

Aww Cap'n, I'm so sorry to hear that :( but it's good that it has been caught early - and just as importantly, that your Mum will not have to wait long for her op. All the very best to her and to you too, I know you will be sharing the worry.

Sorry to hear your news, Z.

Hope your Mum gets over things quickly. And remember, cure rates are far better than they used to be.

Hi folks,
Thanks for your concern. My mother was due to be operated on on monday. On monday morning she got a phone call to say don't come in today. Due to a heavy weekend in A and E there was no beds available. They told her to hang in there and she would get a bed soon. It's wednesday night and still nowt yet despite numerous calls to the hospital. The health service in ireland is a joke.

I'm so sorry to hear about this delay Zed,:( that is not the kind of phonecall anyone wants to receive, when they're needing surgery. This must be very stressful for your poor Mum - and the rest of you, of course. I sincerely hope that the new admission date will be forthcoming very soon. Please let us know how things are going, if you feel you can. You know that we shall all be rooting for you and yours.

Sorry to hear it Zed :( Cancer's the one that scares everyone sh*tless. I hope your mother gets her bed soon and that the operation goes well.

Hi Folks...i'm mad busy lately but just wanted to let ya's know me mom came out of hospital today. They have removed the tumour and had to take two lymph nodes as it had spread a bit in the last couple of weeks. Anyway she's ont mend now and we have to wait for all the scan results. So it's not all bad. talk soon.
PS ...Flopp's, hang in there with the xbox controller. It will eventually become a part of your arm.

Glad to hear that your Mum has got her op. over and done with, Z. :)

Hi Capt Zed.
Sorry to read about your mum. I`m sure her new appointment will come along soon.
Many years ago my late mother had breast cancer and she lived for a good many years. Should the worse come to the fore, the surgery is very much up to date and survival rate is very high. Chin up Capt.

Hello Captain Zed
I think everything will be ok with your Mum. My wife seven years ago had a cancer of a left breast.
She endured surgery, radiation treatments and later chemotherapy. She visits her doctors every six months.
She recently turned 50. Now she feels good. We work together in the same department.
Sorry for my English.

Hi folks,
Seems like ages since i was on here. I have been really busy helping out with me moms stuff. She's doing fine outwardly but i think it's all getting her down a bit. She said today that she thinks she might not get the chemo-therapy. I think she might just be a tad afraid of everything it brings....i hope she gets the therapy because she needs to make sure that if any bad cells were left behind they're all killed....anyway 30 years ago i helped my dad build a shed out the back garden and now we have to pull it back down to make room for a new one. Talk about hard work. It was built to last with real blocks, not like todays stuff. Me back is killing me, lol but i don't mind. It's the least i can do for my folks, i suppose. Going back tomorrow for more of the same.
Hello to everyone.

Hi there Cap'n
Glad to hear your Mum is making good progress generally, but I'm guessing she is probably feeling a bit overwhelmed and "down" following the surgery. Hopefully, her health professionals, will be able to gently persuade her to go ahead with the next step - chemo; and I'm sure your family's support and love will also help her to decide to accept treatment. Wishing her well.

It sounds like you're having quite a time demolishing that shed! Good luck with that, but take care not to "cream-cracker" yourself in the process. ;)

Me back is killing me,

Careful with the old back, Capt Z. You don't want to be laid up for any length of time.

Good to hear from you Capt Zed! I'm glad she's doing ok generally, but feeling a bit down isn't too much of a surprise given the circimstances - I'm sure we all would. Having you round helping is bound to cheer her up though :D
