Anyone know the meaning of the word "Pajero" as in Mitsubishi Pajero?

I know but; I am just curious who else does, and if you don’t what do you think it means?

There is a feline which is known in Spanish as the gato pajero (‘grass cat’). The Pampas cat featured on the emblem on early Pajero SUVs.;)
