I have accidently uninstalled Paint. How do I add it back in?
I've tried the Add/Remove Windows Components but it doesn't work (add it
into Programs/Accessories).

Embarrassing. Please help.
Thx

System Restore should work.

Tried my last Restore point of Jan 3rd - didn't work.

Can I hard install from XP disk?

Incindently, I find Win Components unclear. When it says "To add or remove a
component click the checkbox" does this mean if it is checked already it
will uninstall the component or will it leave it as is? Conversely, if it is
unchecked and you check it, will it install or will it uninstall?
In other words, do you change the condition of the box (check or blank) in
order to command the opposite of it's current condition (install or
uninstall)? (Hope that makes sense)

First off, don't do a system restore, they do more damage than good

In the add/remove components if the box is checked it means the said item is installed on your syste
If the box is unchecked it means the said item is not installed on your syste

If paint is checked under accessories then uncheck it to make it fully un-install, when that is done reboot for good measure, when the system is back up go back to add/remove components and put the check back in. Paint should install itself, if not then reboot again, it's always good to reboot after doing something to the system just to make sure everything is correct

I will post again with another fix when I remeber which directory mspaint is in on the XP CD

Robert;
In addition to Boo's suggestions, try this:
See if mspaint.exe is in::
C:\WINDOWS\system32
If yes, create a shortcut to
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mspaint.exe

Thx Boo and Wesley. As soon as I get my XP PC working (see post later today
"boot up ends in blank screen") I'll give the suggestions a try.

Many Thx
Rob
