Can sombody please tell me how to stop the thumbnails showing the
original picture after editing the picture. thank you

Welcome to the forum...
If you have pics saved in your My Pictures folder and you modify them in Paint, there will always be a copy of the origional + your modified pic..There is no stopping it...

You could try clearing your thumbnail cache and see if that helps:
